activities

We want our residents to be as active and engaged as they can be and so we place a focus on the activities we offer within our care home. We have appointed a dedicated Activity Co-ordinator who is tasked with creating a daily changing programme of events and activities that respond to the interests and hobbies of our residents. Saroia also supports this as a company, providing training, toolkits and funding for our Nursing Home to get more involved in many projects.

Popular activities include:

  • Exercise and movement

  • Pub quiz

  • Visits from local animal sanctuaries and pet therapies and care for pets and farm animals

  • Arts and Crafts

  • Themed baking

  • Cards and other games

  • Music and entertainment

  • Community engagement with local schools

  • Trips and visits within the local region where the home has access to transport.

Food

All meals are home cooked on the premises, using local fresh produce, where possible. Service users can choose from a selection of meals on the daily menu. All dietary requirements can be catered for, e.g. Vegetarians, Vegans, Kosher, Halal etc. We also liaise and have visits from the community dietician when needed. If meal time is missed for any reason, the meal can be replaced by informing a member of staff.

Good quality food and three staple meals a day are the cornerstones of daily life in our nursing home. We have a kitchen team in the home, led by a qualified cook or chef, who focuses on nutritious and balanced meals, freshly made and drawing on seasonal ingredients where possible. Whether it's a home-made pie or a fresh fruit sponge, we aim to provide a quality menu with a range of choices for all our residents. We dress the dining areas each meal for this important part of the day. Tea, coffee and a wide range of drinks are available 24 hours a day and visitors can help themselves to drinks at reception. Our Food and Beverage Manager is a trained chef and brings a renewed focus on food, driving standards up.
